Our Story

From the Classroom to a National Maths Platform

EdwardsMaths was founded in 2009 by George Edwards, a passionate mathematics educator and former Curriculum Adviser for Mathematics in the Overberg Education District, Western Cape. Before that, George spent many years teaching maths in schools across the province and later served as Principal of Overberg High School in Caledon.

The idea for the website was sparked by a real need: teachers in South Africa had limited access to quality maths resources beyond their prescribed textbooks. George began collecting valuable material from teachers in his district—with their permission—and made these resources available online.

Over time, he also explored and curated maths material from the internet, organizing exam papers, assessments, and study materials into one easy-to-access hub for teachers and learners alike.

George Edwards is a retired maths teacher, curriculum adviser, and school principal based in the scenic town of Kleinmond, Western Cape.
This project is a true labour of love—a personal hobby that keeps George engaged with the ever-evolving world of mathematics education in South Africa. His commitment to educational excellence is the driving force behind EdwardsMaths.
